Inspiration to be a Candidate for 2026 MyFloridaCFO Office

In June of 2025, Storm Stoppers filed a lawsuit against the My Safe Florida Home Grant program.  Storm Stoppers wants to be able to offer their Safe Window Protection in that taxpayer-funded program as a choice for homeowners, since currently Homeowners can only purchase the heavy and dangerous bolted on metal Hurricane Shutters.  The Case is #2025 CA 001075 in Leon County, Florida.  Mr. Smith’s opponent replied to the lawsuit that “Approved” Hurricane Shutters, which have killed 14 adults in fires since 1998 are not required to comply with Florida’s Life Safety Code.  Besides being wrong, this puts millions of Florida Homeowners at risk, so Mr. Smith decided to be a Candidate to keep Florida Homeowners safe.  Mr. Smith has many innovative ideas, including forfeiting his CFO Salaries, and using these monies towards hiring expert consultants including an experienced Fire Marshal to investigate statewide fires/arsons and financial experts to check the math on State of Florida budgets and Cost Analyses.
